Trenchless Pipe Relining Will Fix These Plumbing Problems
Pipe relining is one of the most efficient and cost-effective ways of undertaking a Sydney pipe repair job.
A traditional pipe replacement would mean an invasive garden or driveway excavation to remove the faulty original pipe. In contrast, a pipe reline uses high-tech plumbing equipment to fix the problem with minimal disruption to your property, saving you time, hassle and money.
Killara Plumbing’s team of professional plumbers have been relining pipes across Sydney for over three decades. Our pipe relining North Shore services include the suburbs of Artarmon, Balgowlah, Chatswood, Cremorne, Hornsby, Lane Cove, Mosman, Neutral Bay, North Ryde, Pymble, Roseville, Wahroonga and Willoughby.
So, read on to learn what issues we can address with our pipe reline solutions…
1. A Burst Water Pipe
A number of things can cause broken pipes.
Over time, the pipe can rust and erode, causing the walls, seals and joints to become weak. This makes it prone to bursting, cracking or leaking, which can result in a permanently damaged pipe.
Changing soil conditions is a common problem too. It could be landscaping, an earthquake or fluctuating weather conditions. If something strikes a pipe or it expands and contracts too quickly it will cause it to rupture. High water pressure is also a contributing factor. If the flow of water is too strong, it will strain the pipes.
If you notice water dripping or pooling on the ground, you have a break or a leak. If you hear a hissing or gushing sound, that most likely means there’s a leak too.
When you reline plumbing pipes that have burst, you reinforce the internal pipe and create a new seal underneath the damaged section. Trenchless pipe relining is a long-term solution.
2. A Clogged Drain Pipe
Blocked drains will cause structural damage if left untreated.
Outdoor problems include tree roots penetrating the pipes (a professional root risk analysis will determine if that’s the case), an accumulation of twigs and leaves in the drain and a backlog of water from heavy rain that couldn’t drain fast enough.
Inside the home, there are many man-made potential blockages. Pouring grease, oil or fat down the sink is one. Hair getting caught in the shower drain is another. Accumulated sediment and calcium deposits can also occur if the water in your home has a high mineral content (called ‘hard water’). Also, flushing wipes, tissues or paper towels down the toilet is a no-no, even if they say ‘flushable’. Once inside the drain lines, they will create a problem.
Signs of a clog include gurgling sounds, slow drainage, standing water or a water overflow.
A professional plumbing service will remove the debris with a high-pressure water jet and then the pipe can be relined with a durable epoxy resin.
3. Low Water Pressure
Poor water pressure is often a symptom of both of the above issues – broken and blocked pipes.
Inadequate installation can also be a trigger. Undersized pipes will create a bottleneck, so the water struggles to get out. Similarly, it’s hard for water to travel properly in pipes that have too many bends and turns. If pipes were laid out on a slope (such as going uphill) that’s an issue too.
If water flow around the house fluctuates and is slow, or if your taps and showerheads make banging or spluttering noises when the water comes out, that means the pressure is a problem.
Our pipe relining process involves diagnosing the cause, fixing it and providing you with a strong, more evenly balanced flow and more consistent water pressure.
4. Smelly Drains
Once again, the problems we’ve mentioned above can result in foul-smelling sinks and drains in the home.
Cracked pipes, leaky pipes and blockages in the pipes will encourage odour-causing mould and mildew to seep in and fester. Over time, you will be able to smell this inside, and people often describe it as resembling rotten eggs.
Food build-up like scraps in the kitchen sink will also cause pungent bacteria to grow.
One of the many benefits of pipe relining is that our plumbers will do a full inspection from the access point to find the source of the smell, clear it out and repair the damage where the odour originated from.
